What to Expect

Children and Family photography sessions with Jen are laid back and relaxed. No need to get matchy matchy outfits. Simply plan to wear clothes as you would on any given day. Think of this as a 'Day In the Life', but in a shorter period of time. Jen will follow along and photograph your family as you play and interact in the chosen setting. Do you want to document your family at home? Perhaps you might think of a simple typical activity your family does together (play in the yard, read books, bake, eat snacks, etc). Do you want to photograph a location that is meaningful to you? Perhaps the lake, hiking trails, a favorite candy shop? A vacation or stay-cation? Let Jen know and she can do her best to make that happen! Most importantly, your photographs will not be staged or posed. Jen will capture the real and perfect moments in the every day interactions with the most important people in your life.

FAQs

1. Where will we take our photos? Location spots are a personal choice. I suggest either taking photos in your home or finding a location that best suits your family. You might think of something you usually do as a family and incorporate that into your photos. A home session (like THIS one) is equally as beautiful as a session with the lake as a backdrop. Together we can come up with the perfect location for your photos.
2. What does a documentary family session look like? Family sessions will all look different because every family is different! Go to my blog to view sample of sessions HERE.
3. Will my photos be edited? Yes, your photos will be edited slightly to correct colors, white balance, and cropping. However, will I make mom look 20 pounds lighter or take grandma's wrinkles away or give grandpa a full head of hair? Nope. Sorry. I am all about documenting who you are now and how you look in real life, which is perfect in every way.
4. Will my photos be in color or black & white? If you have taken a peek at my galleries you will notice many of my photos are in black and white. I love black and white photos and am almost obsessed with them! Therefore, there will be several of your photos in black and white.
5. How long does it take to receive my photos? I aim to send over your online gallery within 3 weeks of your session. Please note that life happens and sometimes that is not always possible. From there we will discuss book options and work on the book layout. That timeline varies from client to client.
6. Do you offer mini sessions? Typically, no, I do not offer mini sessions. This kind of photography is harder to do in a short time frame. I will announce any special mini sessions on Facebook and Instagram so be sure to follow me to stay in the loop!
7. How far in advance should I book a session? Booking about a month in advance is suggested to ensure you get your preferred time and date.
8. What is included in the session fee? Session fee includes consultation prior to the session and time photographing the session itself.
9. What photo products are available for purchase? Clients choose the exact products they would like to purchase at an ordering appointment. No minimum order is required and pricing begins at $450 for heirloom family photo products. These quality products include custom designed photo books, a variety of folio displays for prints and wall art.
